About me

Life
I was born in 1970 and raised in Ringsted (Denmark) and Lilongwe (Malawi, Africa).  Since 1989, I have been based in Copenhagen, with short detours during which I have lived temporarily in Canterbury (UK), Bergen (NO) and Atlanta (US). When I’m not busy being an internet researcher (see below) or surfing the web, I spend time with family and friends, sing in a chamber choir, play the piano, fool around with my Nikon camera and in general enjoy the cornucopia of cultural activities available in Copenhagen. I’m also an semi-active member of the board of DONA, an association for Danish professionals working with online media.

Work
I’m an Associate Professor, working at the IT University of Copenhagen, where I’m affiliated with the Innovative Communication Research group. I do research on internet communication and culture, gameworlds and mobile communication. Currently, I’m particularly interested in forms of personal storytelling (such as blogs or status updates) and user-generated content.
