Klastrup's Cataclysms

This is the research diary of researcher Lisbeth Klastrup, since february 2001 sharing her thoughts on life, universe, persistent online worlds, games, interactive stories and internet oddities with you on the www.

I am currently on leave from the IT University of Copenhagen, and from aug. 2006 - aug. 2007 working as Associate Research Professor at the Center for Design Research Copenhagen, an independant center situated at the School of Architecture. During this year, I will be working on a book about the development of aesthetics, design and interaction on the WWW, together with colleague Ida Engholm.

My blog often reflects how busy I am in general, so posting may be pretty irregular, as well as my potential response to comments. But I read them!

Cross-Media Storytelling Blog

Christy Dena has started a blog Cross-Media Storytelling and so far she is working her way through some of the relevant ph.d. works on the subject out there, including yours truly's. She is doing a "Masters of Creative Arts by Research" at the University of Melbourne, who - from what I have seen so far - seems to be a brilliant place to be if you want to do combined research and art.

Thanks for posting my site. And yes, I am reading up on a few PhDs in the area since I'm also currently about to convert to PhD. I'm enjoying your thesis and look forward to reading your upcoming paper.

And on the practice/thesis thread -- my creative work is lagging behind at the mo (ideas are bubbling but their manifestation is not). However, the two are feeding each other rather well, indeed pushing each other: I'm forced to think about how I'm going to execute ideas and at the same time forced to come up with approaches to effects I want to achieve.

And of course your situatedness in virtual worlds whilst writing your thesis would of offered many grounded(!) insights. An ethnographer with a keyboard rather than a clipboard...
